Azme Naujawan is an initiative by 06 civil society organizations of Karachi, which aims to increase youth-led initiatives in support of social & civic action, encouraging broad-based citizen engagement
in community decision-making
WHO CAN ENROLL
Passionate youth who want to serve their communities through innovative Social Action Projects & Campaigns by bringing Community Together, between the age of 14-25, living in Gulzar E Hijri, Pehlwan Goth, Saeedabad, Maripur, Shireen Jinnah Colony, Chakra Goth Korangi, Ibrahim Hyderi, Machar Colony and Lyari (Khada Memon Society, Nawabad, Chakiwara) can apply via our registration form.
What We Provide?
We provide 06 concrete elements of sustainability to encourage resilience within local communities.
Community Centers
6- youth centers are established; one in each district of Karachi – which are the main hub for the programmatic activity. Our youth centers are safe spaces for all men & women of the community.
Engagement Activities
Team of Azme Naujawan hosts small & large activities at the youth center & community venues to promote dialogue, discussion, peace, diversity & resileince within communities.
Training and Mentoring
Training & mentoring youth aged 14-25 across 09 communities for 52-hours on personal & professional development, leadership & entrepreneurship and Arts & culture to serve communities.
Social Action Project
Participants raise funds, engage communities & involve decision makers in bringing their creative, innovative & scalable ideas to life contributing to safe & resilience communities.
Sustainable SAPs
Persistent, sustainable & impactful project ideas are selected to undergo indepth training, provided seed funding & resources to form & upscale their community based organizations.
Youth Network
Promoting cross-district activities to connect youth all across Karachi’s different communities to building a youth network carry forwarding the gaols of Azme Naujawan.

Aqleema
Aqleema from Chakra Goth Korangi, saw the direct link between hate speeches & lack of education within the community. She proceeded to undertake pledges from her community & established a library for girls at her home.
Ali Akbar Soomro
Ali Akbar Soomro is from Chakiwara Lyari who understood the need for safe community spaces & proceeded to win the support of his community to reclaim a community center promoting grooming, literature, arts & culture.
Sahiba
Sahiba is a resident of Maripur with an unmatched story of a girl who invested her savings in purchasing a computer to replicate Azme Naujawan trainings for women to promote equality & resilience within her community.
Shahbaz Baloch
Shahbaz Balouch is from Ibrahim Hyderi whose story shows the transformative impact of inclusive education. He is an alumni of Azme Naujawan mainly emphasizing on community education & social development in Ibrahim Hyderi.
Yaseen
Yaseen is a young boy from Shireen Jinnah colony who was heavily influenced by local extremists however had a change of heart becoming an advocate for resilience within his community post Azme Naujawan training program.
Pari Rustamani
Pari Rustamani from Gulzar E Hijri initiated a research oriented project to formulate a direct link between mental health & violence extremism. This paved her way to be part of Mehergarh as an advocate on mental health.

Life under the tower
Machar Colony
Usman is an AeN participant who lives in Machar Colony – Old Slum Area of the Fishermen community. The community there only has Madrasas and no formal schools exist. During the problem identification process Usman realized there is high need for education within his community. Four more participants who had identified the need of education throughout the community joined in with him and formulated the JUGNU School under a Mobile Tower. Participants are working on primary education for the children there, where they are mobilizing families, stakeholders and madrasas to engage students in basic literacy till primary school.

Azme Nuajawan has been taking community viewpoint in a broad way for development. Along with that we have seen previous work of Azme Naujawan at Ibrahim Hyderi and I must say team Azme Naujawan is dedicated to work for positive community change. We’re supporters for positive change that comes from community youth. We welcome Azme Naujawan to our community of Nawabad Lyari .
Azme Naujawan is sowing fertile seeds in communities, this whole program is structurally based on personal management, social and civic sense, and furnishing arts & culture among the youth of our society. Every participant who enrolls in Azme Naujawan have become trees that will ripe fruits for the community after 20 years. We should adopt a positive attitude and patience towards positive change in society.
Azme Naujawan is a program that has demonstrated visible change in various areas across Karachi. We have been trying to work within Nawabad, Lyari for years and finally we come across team Azme Nauajwan of Mehrdar Art & Production who is perhaps talking about community development and change on the same frequency as us. I personally would love that my students participate within the program.
Many youngsters have become the part of musical institute right after one Social Action Project on music for social change was conducted by Azme Naujawan. The youth that used to sit at corner of street, were the part of immoral gatherings, involved in hate speech, were gender and sect bias and promoted extremism, have now turned to learning positive modes of expression like music, arts & theater; that too for awareness. A good sign has kicked in within our society. That day is not far when everyone will be connected together leaving aside all societal divides thatnks to Azme Naujawan.
